Practical Information about Casablanca II

CLIMATE
Casablanca's climate is typically Mediterranean, characterized by cool, wet winters, not too cold, and dry and very warm summers. The Atlantic Ocean mitigates the feeling of cold and heat, hence the temperatures are not as extreme as in other parts of Morocco. Rains appear especially in autumn and winter, and sometimes in April. In summer it rains just a day or two at most.

AIRPORT
. Name: Casablanca International Airport
. IATA: CMN
. Location: It is 30 kilometers south of the city
. Trains, buses and taxis that connect the airport with Casablanca (45 minutes by train to the center and the port, one hour by bus)

DOCUMENTATION
For citizens of the European Union just a passport, valid for six months after your return date. Citizens of countries such as Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Peru, Puerto Rico and Venezuela do not require visas for the trip to Morocco.

ELECTRICITY
The standard electrical current is 220 volts in new buildings. There are old buildings that still have 110 volts. Plugs are European type.
TRANSPORT
Casablanca also has many red taxis that cross the main avenues. They are cheap, but at night are 50 percent more expensive. There is also a white taxi service , much like the red taxis, they offer what is called the shared service. It can carry up to six passengers, following regular routes. They are a very cheap option for trips out of town.
There are also buses (not very comfortable nor clean). It also doesnt help that the stops are only written in Arab.
And there is also a very nice new tramway, a cheap and new way of transport that is climatised and cheap.
